Where do I even start with this lovely couple? Escaping their busy lives in the U.S.A., where they’ve been living together for more than 20 years, Susan and Valerie traveled far away in order to live a unique celebratory affair, aka a stunning lesbian wedding in Greece.
What could be better than a wedding with two brides? Love is always perfect, even if it's different from what we're used to. And this love and wedding story has also been featured in the international wedding blog Chic & Stylish Weddings!
Eclectic Details: Ceremony & Party
Right after Susan proposed on a sailboat in Alameda, California, the sweet couple just knew that they both wanted to have their wedding in Greece. So, Susan and Valerie decided to tie the knot at Island Art & Taste, an impressive spot right in the middle of the Athenian Riviera.
The experts of the Wedding in Greece team created the vision for this urban elopement inspiration. Colorful bouquets, warm-toned florals, garlands, and bright colors décor elements were beyond chic and impressive. Pink, cream, yellow and red tones complemented the elegance of the stylish wedding venue and of the ivory, tea-length dresses of my amazing brides.
But although the place was completely gorgeous, nothing compared to the beauty of the big smiles on their faces. And most guests commented that seeing two white wedding dresses together with a backdrop of the infinite blue Aegean Sea was truly unique. Yes, that was an amazing ceremony, filled with love, laughter, and happy tears!
After Susan and Valerie exchanged vows in front of their loved ones, it was time for a great photo session to begin. A breath-taking natural view as a background, a dreamy wedding setup and a sweet pair deeply in love. That was all I needed as a wedding photographer for same-sex couples…
The reception was an absolute dream. Actually, it was a great party; so full of fun that I could hardly feel I was at work! The couple had guests coming from Ireland, Italy, Paris, California, Washington, DC, and London, so they really wanted to make it a fun vacation for everyone. And, yes, they totally achieved it! This wedding party had a perfect summer festival atmosphere.
Celebrating Diversity: Same-sex Elopement Inspiration
I strongly believe that getting to work with such a wide range of awesome couples is what makes a wedding photographer’s job so exciting. After all, weddings and heart-warming events are the best way to celebrate the things that define us and make us who we are, the things that connect us and help us shape our routes. That’s why the diversity I often get to witness is truly inspiring. Love is love. It really is that simple. And LGBT+ weddings are simply just weddings, after all.
Susan and Valerie, thank you for letting me capture your special day – I loved every minute of it! And I am sure that it was definitely an event to remember for all guests, as it was overflowing with such love and so many heartfelt emotions.
