Wedding Vows for Eternity in MykonosA Sand Wedding Ceremony at the Queen of the Cyclades, Mykonos
Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale.
Erin and Ivan wanted to live their own by planning a divine elopement in Mykonos, in order to seal their vows with an emblematic sand ceremony. Being their wedding photographer, I was honored to witness this modern allegorical construction of their new, united life.
It was the first time for me to experience such a special kind of ceremony, so I am really thrilled to share with you all the great details of this out-of-the-ordinary wedding ritual!
A Wedding in Greek Colors
Blue: the symbol of serenity and purity of soul.
White: a representation of supreme faith in love, transparency of feelings, sincerity and innocence.
The contrast of the two figurative Greek colors in the sky, the cubical- shaped houses, and the sea created a perfect atmosphere. In order to maintain that balance, the couple chose those, along with a natural light brown color, to create a new vivid combination of layers in their shared wedding glass funnel.
Grounding on a New United Life
Erin and Ivan taught me the exact meaning of the term inseparable. But not with words. The spiritual symbolism of the sand spoke for itself. Each of the glass funnels represents everything they contribute from their own being. Every single grain represents their individual lives, their memories, their families, experiences, and events that were part of their life separately, and that made them what they are today.
One by one, and then both of them at the same time, let their grains fall into their new communal life that began that day. The final mix is hardly separable, representing what they became from that gracious moment on. Starting then and for the rest of their lives, they will share love, respect, and complicity, every grain of the time of their life together as a simple unity.
Depicting a Profound Romance
The emotionally charged ceremony followed an astounding wedding photo shooting at the main unique landmarks of the island. The genuine beauty of Mykonos may establish the perfect background for a momentous photo, but the effortless demonstration of a true romance apotheosized the capturing of the moment.
I have to admit that this couple was a special inspiration to me. Every kiss, every touch, every eye-contact, and the constant holding of the hands were deponents of unprompted, genuine love and affection.
The pure love of Erin and Ivan is the set example that explains why the sweet simple things in life are the real and most meaningful after all.
I just know life has even more wonderful things in store than the happiness you shared with me those days! I am extremely touched and proud to have been the person that created the visual material of all the memories of your wedding experience in Mykonos.
May every day fulfill another wonderful dream for you as a couple. It was such an honor to witness your vows and be among those to wish you a blissful beginning.
